BTW KSnapshot can be run, like almost all kde apps, from Xfce and it is very nice. It has a delay timer setting so you can get just the shot you want. Simple, with intuitive features.
Well it's TWM actually (comes with xorg). It's very configurable just using .twmrc (man twm).
Very resource minimalistic. Extremely fast and absolutely iron stable.

Eye friendly colors when coding for long hours...
A long time ago I was coding all day every day and used a background very similar to yours with font colors (amber, almost salmon?) that provided a good contrast and kept my eyes from getting tired.
The only problem was that when I looked away from the screen and looked across the room everything was in grayscale (no color) for a few seconds. I found it to be an interesting side effect and decided something was wrong so I changed the colors.

So that is what the X Windows tiling environments look like. Kind of reminds me of OS-9 level 2 from the TRS-80 Coco 3. It had a primitive windowing system that allowed for a similar look.
@Tracy Tiger : I haven't had any problems like that. It's just that my monitor is bright. Background is "SlateGray", foreground "AntiqueWhite".
@Arcosanti : The background are just rxvt's without titlebars that I've placed in a tiling fashion using a small script.
@rogan: I see. So you are just simulating one of the tiling windows managers then. The most minimalistic I've ever done was just running X Windows with out anything installed. It just comes up with a terminal in the background where you can start up various apps from.
