Slackware -current 32 bits running with Xfce 4.10 :

I use the Greybird theme for Xfce.

It's compatible with GTK2/GTK3 apps as as well as Emerald.

Uniform look between GTK2/3 and QT4 apps is done by creating a ~/.gtkrc-2.0 file containing the name of the theme.

It's the screenshot (import -window root ~/notscrot.jpg). For some reason it does look muddy, but IRL it's nice and crisp (FlexView screen on an old thinkpad). The file manager is "worker":

There doesn't seem to be a need for it . . . as you implied, the thread gets plenty of traffic already.

IMO we have enough sticky threads. If they aren't absolutely crucial and would be otherwise overlooked I tend to see them as clutter.
