I don't see why is that a problem?
Everyone who need it has compiled 2.6 long time ago.
Is it really necesary to view Slackware like it is some other distro when it was always roll your own software?

When Slackware 11 comes out it will be a little easier to install with a 2.6 kernel. You can always compile your own kernel once you've got it installed. I'm running the latest kernel right now.

i don't know where shall i write test26.s
i tried it in the first command

Very interesting.
It'd be nice if DBUS & HAL are included as well. Might as well be. All the requirements are in place.

I really expected slackware 11 to be out by now.
Is Pat switching to a yearly release?

Who knows? Slackware 11 is the next big version number, not a point upgrade. I have no problem waiting for Patrick to finish the best distro on the planet.

It was a year between 7.1 and 8, and another year between 8 and 8.1.
It will be released when it's ready. That really is the answer.

No whining allowed in my home ... House Rule #2.
House Rule #1 is "No going online in Windoze."
There is a direct correlation between the two.
