I've been here since 2005. I can't say that I consider myself a member of the "Slackware community"; I'm more a mere user who has learned an awful lot in these electrons. Similar to what another poster said, I wander off from time to time (I currently use a different distro on each of my three computers), but there is always at least one Slackware machine in my house, and it is always the one I consider my primary machine.

I have always found the Slackers here, and the larger LQ community as a whole, to be welcoming and helpful; I think LQ is one of the friendliest Linux places on the inner webs.

When I first started with Slackware, I also followed the newsgroup, comp.os.linux.slackware (I think--it's been a while) and my experience with the Slackware users there was similar: welcoming and helpful.

As a footnote, as a BBS and newsgroup user starting from the late '80s, I learned how to write a post the hard way (by writing bad ones, that is), and that experience certainly helped me in these forums.

I can also tell you this: You ain't ever been flamed if you were never flamed on alt.folklore.urban when it was at its best. You could be three paragraphs into a very civil-sounding four-paragraph flame before you realized your tail feathers were on fire.
