the session manager don't run????

I install slack 10.1 without gnome. When I change inittab the defaul for 4, the session don't run automatically. I must login and then write startx or kdm.
What can I do for the session manager run automatically?

If you installed KDE, then KDM should start automatically. Make sure that KDM is uncommented in /etc/rc.d/rc.4.
