"The process for the mtp protocol died unexpectedly"
Hi,
I am currently in a situation where I was able to plug my cellphone into my computer and it will automatically mount. However recently I have been unable to mount my cellphone using Slackware 14.1 If I have a look in the logs the system can indeed see my cellphone and it displays all phone information in the log file. Syslog reports the following: Code:
Nov 17 17:55:33 slack org.kde.powerdevil.backlighthelper: QDBusConnection: system D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. Thanking you Marios |
I don't know what phone you have, but I have had no luck with the "stock" mtpfs. I have a Samsung S3, running cyanogenmod 11 - I have to use go-mtpfs to get it to work. Another alternative is to use a sshd server on the phone, and then mount it via sshfs-fuse and copy the files that way.

Hi Mark
Thank you for your feedback. I will most likely look into the SSH or FTP options. I did not think of the alternatives you suggested. Thanks again! Marios |
Not a Slacker, but I've found that simple-mtpfs works for me in Fedora but not Ubuntu. In Ubuntu I'm using jmtpfs (too lazy to compile jmtpfs for Fedora to test it).

I never got MTP working and wasn't a fan of it anyway. I don't like they they remove usb storage option myself.
I ended up setting up my own server and use foldersynclite on my mobile devices. In the long run its easier because I don't have to plug anything in, it just syncs everything once a day. |
