BTW, jong357 I am curious what DIYSlackware is? Is it merged DIY Linux and Slackware?
Yep, pretty much. mtune/march=i686 with slack boot scripts modified to display sysvinit style. I like the way BSD scripts work but think sysv looks better on the boot. Changed quite a few build scripts for various tweaks but the majority of it is untouched and straight up slackware. Fun stuff... Especially if you find yourself getting bored with day in and day out use.
I originally did it for ppc, and still do.. Not a big fan of Slackintosh so thats what started the whole thing.
I am a noob. Tried all sorts of distros and rather liked Zenwalk. But then I found that Slackware was not quite as hard to install as imagined, and found that everything just worked. I'll not change again.
To jong357: that's great. It's more like your own beloved distro, not Slackware or DIY anymore. I think it is good to know whow each piece works. I feel envious.
I tried Vector, but with the absence of partitioning tools in the ISO and the horrible grammar, I've decided not to use it. I am about to install Zenwalk, and if I don't like it, its Slackware time.
