Yep, pretty much. mtune/march=i686 with slack boot scripts modified to display sysvinit style. I like the way BSD scripts work but think sysv looks better on the boot. Changed quite a few build scripts for various tweaks but the majority of it is untouched and straight up slackware. Fun stuff... Especially if you find yourself getting bored with day in and day out use.
I originally did it for ppc, and still do.. Not a big fan of Slackintosh so thats what started the whole thing.

I am a noob. Tried all sorts of distros and rather liked Zenwalk. But then I found that Slackware was not quite as hard to install as imagined, and found that everything just worked. I'll not change again.

I have run Slackware 10.1 on a 733Mhz P3 with 128Mb of RAM and with fluxbox or xfce it ran as fast as you would want for ordinary use.

To jong357: that's great. It's more like your own beloved distro, not Slackware or DIY anymore. I think it is good to know whow each piece works. I feel envious.

I have been using Zenwalk for about two weeks on on old Celeron. I must say I am very impressed with it and now use it more than SUSE or Ubuntu.
From what i know about Slackware I would suggest you try Zenwalk (or Vector) first and move onto Slackware 'proper' if you feel the need.

I tried Vector, but with the absence of partitioning tools in the ISO and the horrible grammar, I've decided not to use it. I am about to install Zenwalk, and if I don't like it, its Slackware time.

I sucessfully installed Zenwalk, and am quite happy with it. I'm going to add some bigger apps, but that's about it.
Thanks, everyone!
