Did anyone try 5.12.0-rc5 on top on slackware-current?

EDIT: i had problems caused by missing dm-crypt support on the kernel.
It looks like "make oldconfig" on Pat's 5.11 config forced CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=m, thus the issue.
I had to set CONFIG_TCG_TPM=y and CONFIG_TRUSTED_KEYS=y for CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=y to stick.
My fault for not checking it before.

slackware64-14.2 is alive and well with kernel 5-11-12
Built and installed without problem
about a week of uptime with 5.11.11 so I switched back to;
Code:
make localmodconfig
no need to unset IDXD as it is not brought in with the make local.
Anyway from what I read IDXD is only used on new Intel Server chip Sapphire
Which isn't even available till 4th quarter 2021

These kernel versions mitigate CVE-2021-29154:
https://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-s...y/2021/04/08/1

5.4.111 seems to work as well:
Code:
Linux hp-laptop.example.org 5.4.111 #1 SMP Sat Apr 10 16:25:25 CEST 2021 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T6400 @2.00GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux

5.12-rc7
Release Candidate 7, for the 5.12 "mainline" development kernel has been been made available for testing.

The tarball, https://git.kernel.org/torvalds/t/linux-5.12-rc7.tar.gz

Mr. Torvalds' announcement, http://lkml.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/k...4.1/04189.html

Quote:
.........End result: I'm still waffling about the final 5.12 release. The fact that we have a big rc7 does make me think that I'll probably do an rc8
this time around. But it ends up depending a bit on how the upcoming
week goes, and if things are deathly quiet, I may end up deciding that
an rc8 doesn't really make sense.

So we'll see............

FWIW, 5.12-rc7 would not build. It aborted about halfway through the process with multiple errors. Last week 5.12-rc6 built without any errors and has been running perfectly.

I didn't boot it yet, but it built ok with config-generic from 5.11.12 and answer all new options with defaults.
