Wink The 'Switch user' feature does not work in gdm/xfce

Has somebody succeeded to get gdmflexiserver do its job right on
Slackware (-current)?
On my system, the XFCE 'switch user' button jerks the X-window but does nothing in the end, but outputs an error message "X may be misconfigured, cannot create a new screen" or similar.

sorry, where have you installed gdm from?
SBo's gdm has been removed from the git master branch as it's not functional with ConsoleKit2.

you might have better luck with lxdm.

Thanks for the tip.
I've tried lxdm and kdm, including gdmflexiserver wrapper, but the new console just hangs with cursor blinking in the top left corner.

AFAIK kikinovak's MLED, based on Slackware, is using it with that configuration and it works.

it shouldn't be any different, but you can try building with its script on a Slackware full install (I suppose you have that)

It works in the default configuration, but in networks with many users, one of the first things I do is deactivating it, since it causes some trouble. When a user ends his session, he just uses "Switch users" which... leaves the session open in the background" (and uses RAM). The some other user comes along and does the same, and at the end of the day, you'll have plenty of session open with all sorts of weird problems.

As far as I'm concernced, "Switch users" is a stupid option. Folks just just log out and then log in.

Edit: I've activated it in my build because some users have requested it. I just re-deactivate it manually on my own installations.

Thanks for useful replies, since then I've found that kdm/kde4 just works fine in this course, so I'll stick to that.
