Thumbs up Thank you, Pat, AlienBob, Robby Workman, Gnashley, and fellow Slackers!

I've been using Slackware since 10.1 (if I remember right). That was 3 or 4 years ago but that still makes me somewhat of a new guy. I just slapped down a 12.2 and it runs like a scalded cat. It probably took me longer to partition the drive than it did to install the best distro ever created.

Thank you Pat for the best distro in the world. Nothing else feels right.

Thank you AlienBob and Robby Workman for your slackbuilds, answering questions, and all the other stuff we don't even know about.

Thank you Gnashley for your src2pkg and all your help. I used to use checkinstall but on 12.2 it fails for me about 3/4 of the time. I'm now using src2pkg for most of the things I build (the rest I'm getting from AlienBob or Robby's slackbuilds).

Thank you fellow Slackers for making the best Linux community!

Second that!

Now let's everyone put our money where our mouth is: Those who haven't yet had the time - rush off to visit http://store.slackware.com/ and order the official CDs to support Pat in making future stellar releases!

I just happened across this thread on accident while checking out webstats (in particular, links from search results and such); that's why the reply is late

Even though they aren't in the "public eye" as much as Eric and I, know that there are others who work behind the scenes quite a bit, and they deserve thanks just as much. I'm not implying that you intentionally left them out, so don't take this as criticism -- it's just that those other guys don't often get the recognition that they deserve simply because they're not under the spotlight as much... In particular, PiterPUNK is one who definitely deserves a mention :-)

Damn straight! I just upgraded to 12.2 from 11 and the new wireless stuff stopped me in my tracks but after reading an awesome guide from AlienBob the old machine is now connecting wirelessly at boot. I could never get the ipw stuff to do that.

Many, many thanks to all that contribute to keeping Slackware such a wonderful distro.

Indeed, thanks to those who make Slackware possible and a great distro.

I'm a guy who runs with a Slackware version for a couple of years or until I absolutely need something that makes me upgrade. The distro is so boring, it works so well and lacks nothing, that I don't keep up with it as much as a lot of guys do. My thanks go out to everybody behind the distro as well as the community, as I said.

Well said!

I like the "My thanks go out to everybody behind the distro as well as the community, as I said.". That's why we Slack! The glue of the distro is the individuals.

Cool

Well-said, Randux!

Many thanks to Mr. V. and the developers who work tirelessly to fine tune our favourite OS, and also to the LQ Slackers!
When I started with Slackware at 10.0 I was impressed by the dedication and support demonstrated by the LQ Slackers.
I recently purchased a computer from ebay and it came with some exotic software called Ecks-P. I think I spent 3-4 hours patching the unit, scanning for virus activity, scanning for malware, defrag, check disk, etc, etc. I was up and running with Slackware 12.2 in 30 minutes on the same unit, downloaded a few security updates. Done.
Slackware all the way, man!

I'd like to add my thanks to all involved in our distro :-)
I began with the 9-th version some years ago and till today I don't use any other distro or OS. I don't have to.
My laptop is always upgraded with current packages and this way of Slack-ing works for me w/o serious problems.
