I personally would not care so much about GDM but GNOME screenlocker does not seem to work without it and I have found no easy was to replace it. Maybe I could try something like i3lock for the moment.

Sure, gdm is a dependency of gnome-shell and we have to ship it , I also do not use it nor like it, I am on startx command from terminal.
For the lock of the desktop if you have other solutions let us know so maybe we find a way to get around and make it work. I personally
don't use screen lock at all, on my machines is disabled where it exists , I see it as just more typing to get back to work

just FYI, I've had to rebuild gnome-control-center.

Code:
gnome-control-center: error while loading shared libraries: libhandy-0.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Code:
lancs@darkstar:~$ ls /var/log/packages/* | grep handy
/var/log/packages/libhandy-0.84.0-x86_64-1dl
Code:
ls /usr/lib64/libhandy*
/usr/lib64/libhandy-1.so@ /usr/lib64/libhandy-1.so.0*
BTW, awesome to have Gnome3 on Slackware

I've noticed gnome-tweaks does not work as well for the same reason.

Edit:

To solve the gnome-tweaks issue was a bit tricky.

Code:
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/gnome-tweaks", line 15, in <module>
    gi.require_version("Handy", "0.0")
  File "/usr/lib64/python3.8/site-packages/gi/__init__.py", line 132, in require_version
    raise ValueError('Namespace %s not available for version %s' %
ValueError: Namespace Handy not available for version 0.0
Infact gnome-tweaks does not work with libhandy-0.8x, but the most distros using libhandy-0.0.13 anyway.

http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs.../libhandy.html
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/libhandy
https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/libhandy-0.0-0

I've rebuilt gnome-control-center and gnome-tweaks with libhandy-0.0.13.

BTW, libhandy-0.0.13 needs a fix with glade 3.36.x

Code:
sed -e 's/GPC_OBJECT_DELIMITER/GLADE_PROPERTY_DEF_OBJECT_DELIMITER/g' \
      -i glade/glade-*.c

We will probably just revert to libhandy 0.0.13 which was used originally. Gnome-calendar also does not work.

I just revert back to libhandy 0.0.13 so now all should be ok. If you find other troubles let me know so we can fixit up. I will check that glade thingy as I see a lot of warnings running it from terminal. Thanks.

Hey saxa I am just woundering if it would be possible to have an rsync server for Dropline Gnome so that whom ever would like to include it can just rsync it to there repo's.

I can try to see if this is possible to run it on the server where I host the site. But my intention is to
have it uploaded to sf.net once we have a stable release out.

I was just wondering because I am trying keep the Gnome repo current and I have an automatic shell script for rsync all of Alienbob and Slackware-current to my home server so that I can keep everything at my house up to date.

I just did a quick look at the documentation and seems there is noway of running rsync as daemon.
There are probably other solutions which could be done. Maybe doing a cron running wget once per day could be enough to give you
the updates , at the end I do not push up things every day many times per day.

Ya my problem with wget was that I couldn't get it to keep new files and delete old ones

I am not sure, but I think the mirror option should do that.
