Terminal window closes when task completes

If I run something in a terminal starting it from a little Run program (gexec) the terminal window vanishes the moment the task finishes. Locate a list of files and they disappear as soon as the list completes. I have experienced this before in certain situations I'm sure there is a simple explanation for this but I cannot figure it. It makes the system unusable. Can anyone help please?

Try running:
xterm -hold -e <name of program>
in gexec instead.

Another thing (which I do for gkrellm buttons) is, for instance,
xterm -geometry 112x40 -T 'GKrellM : pstree' -e sh -c 'pstree -chlnG ; printf "\nRETURN when done" ; read'
Either one. I wouldn't want to type the above very often, but it's cool to set for a gkrellm action.
