T-bird email backup

Can anyone point me to a (relatively) simple way to backup email on Thunderbird? Mozilla has a procedure, but as I recall it is rather involved.
Using Slack 14.2, Thunderbird 68.6.0 (Linux 64-bit)
Thanx

For most people all related files are stored in $HOME/.thunderbird. The directory is portable and cross-platform. Just copy the directory.

I have a cron job that copies my .thunderbird directory daily, makes a .tar.lz file out of it and sends it to my NAS.
