System time goes back to old time (xfce4-datetime-plugin)
Dear friends,
I have changed the system time and hardware clock time to my zone (Europe/Berlin), but noticed that it goes back to some old settings. Can anybody tell me, what the problem is? The way I understand the theory of "setting up time" is following (please correct me if I am wrong) 1. I use the commad 'ntpdate' to set up the time, using time servers. I believe that this program reads the zoneinfo from /etc/localtime (although I have never seen in any manual, how it actually decides, what is your time zone). So I copied my zone info file and then used ntpdate Code:
% cp /usr/share/zoneinfo/Europe/Berlin /etc/localtime Code:
% hwclock --systohc Is it some problem with xfce or with slackware, which I do not understand? |
The way that i change my clock is
this is the syntax date Month day hour year or Code:
date 021114492013 Code:
hwclock --systohc |
To set my timezone (Europe/Paris) I use Slackware's 'timeconfig' utility and have no problem running ntpd (but I use fluxbox, not xfce -- does that change something?)

Code:
/etc/hardwareclock However I am still not sure whether it was because of slackware or because of XFCE... |
