system locks out any access

Not certain of why ver. 13.37 does this but occasionally if left unattended for extended lengths of time the screen has a randomly selected picture and the keyboard is locked out, i.e. no ctrl-C.
This may have something to do with sleep/suspend. Can someone suggest how this can be corrected? I want to build an audible to alert myself.

Most probably the screen saver is kicking up.

Regards.
