System hangs
Hi.
I do a fresh install Slackware 9.1, everything goes fine (sound works) but when I recompile the kernel the sound stops working so I do this: installpkg /mnt/cdrom/slackware/ap/alsa-*.tgz installpkg /mnt/cdrom/slackware/l/alsa-*.tgz The sound (seem) to work again but every time I change some setting for example the volume or tries to play an mp3 the system hangs. Restart button is the only option. Anyone have any ideas why this problem occurs? |
I would immediately goto the alsa projects webpage and grab the latest alsa and compile it for your system!

Did a fresh install again and tried the above tips. It doesn’t seem to help. Now if I don’t do something with the sound (for example change the volume) the system randomly freezes. For example just now I started IRC (xchat) and someone posted a url. I tried to click on the URL, a new mozilla started and poff - system freezes. Any other ideas?
