Topic. CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE leaves me with a frozen black screen.

I really just need someone to read my Xorg.log for me, because I don't know what's going on. It's attached below.

Nothing worrying in your log. Please tell us what windows manage or desktop you use, as it can catch the Ctrl+Alt+Backspace (XFCE does IIRC).

I wonder if you have a .xsession-errors file in your home directory. That may also shed some light on the problem, if it exists.

Yes, I do use XFCE. I've used XFCE before on a different system without any problems like this. So is there a nicer way to close the X server? Or can I fix it so the Ctrl+Alt+Backspace isn't a problem anymore?

I did an ls -a recently wondering if XFCE used some kind of special log... I think I would have seen .xsession-errors, but maybe I missed it. I'll get back to you on that one.

Ctrl+Alt+Backspace should not be used to kill the X server.

My xinitrc ends with "exec /usr/bin/xterm". Typing "exit" in that terminal makes X return. It's also common to have "exec /usr/bin/twm" -- in that case, quitting TWM makes X return; there is probably some way to gracefully exit Xfce to achieve the same result.

When you see the blank screen, try Alt+F1 (I think; or was it Alt+1?) to switch to another tty.

Okay, that should give me what I need. Thanks for all your help, guys.
