Switching from Network Manager to dhcp problems

I was trying to switch the network configuration to use the dhcpd instead of NetworkManager. The problem is that it fails to get an ip address. I did the following:

1) open terminal window
2) use su to log in as root
3) use pkgtool to use the netconfig script
4) changed settings
5) exit pkgtool
6) exit su
7) Disable NM start-up in xfce
8) reboot
9) bang head on desk
10) reverse settings

Are the rc.inet scripts set to start upon boot? And did you chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.NetworkManager ?

the inet script is set to start up. I can't say I did anything with the network manager script but it doesn't start up anyways.

EDIT: do I need to do something to the inet script?

EDIT2: I managed to get a a search on inet config and now I go this to work.

netconfig should write inet configuration file.

If you use NetworkManager and switch back, run, as stated above:

Code:
chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.networkmanager
And then re-run netconfig and select dhcpcd as your networking daemon. You'll need to fill in all the required information for it though.

I can be mistaken but

Code:
 # netconfig
do alter the mod of the relevant services e.g NM and dhcpd in this case.

Well this tool did it for me on 14.0 and 14.1

actually after running netconfig, I had to modify the inet1.conf file, but I think I just needed to modify some line and now it works.
