switching from gnome to kde

I recently installed 8.1 and chose only the gnome packages when I was loading up software from the CD.

I'd like to switch to KDE (the latest one available, I know where to find it) but I don't know how to configure X so that it recognizes I've made a switch and handles booting KDE.

Is there anything special I'll need to do to get this to work? Or should I just install all the KDE packages and then uninstall all the gnome ones?

Thanks for any help.

I would think that once KDE is installed, you could just run the script xwmconfig to select KDE as your default window manager. That is the same script the the Slack setup runs during the install to set the default wm.

Thanks for your help, the transition was nearly flawless. The only problem I ran into was accidentally uninstalling the gnome-libs tgz which obviously prevented Gaim from running.

Also, I had to think to run the xwmconfig script from the user that was using kde, not just root.

Each user should run xwmconfig, and choose the Window Manager they prefer.
