switched from IDE1 to IDE2 slot....facing problems
Hello all,
Earlier my hard drive was plugged into IDE1 and hence it was /dev/hda. Now i've re-seated it into IDE2 and now its /dev/hdc.
Hence certain parameters has to be changed to boot properly.
I know only of lilo.conf where the settings should be changed.
Any where else ???
B'coz i've succesfully changed in lilo.conf but its still complaining of /dev/hda6 (earlier root) somewhere.
Quote:
# LILO configuration file
# generated by 'liloconfig'
#
# Start LILO global section
boot = /dev/hdc
message = /boot/boot_message.txt
prompt
timeout = 1200
# Override dangerous defaults that rewrite the partition table:
change-rules
reset
# Normal VGA console
vga = normal
# End LILO global section
# Windows bootable partition config begins
other = /dev/hdc1
label = Windows
table = /dev/hdc
# Windows bootable partition config ends
# Linux bootable partition config begins
image = /boot/vmlinuz
root = /dev/hdc6
label = Linux
read-only
# Linux bootable partition config ends
Fixing fstab will likely do most if not all of what you need, but I think I'd probably grep the entire etc directory, recursively, for instances of /dev/hda to see where else the drive was referenced as hda.

Although my machine seems to be working fine but i will definitely do what you have suggested.
