Switch to generic kernel freezes system
I installed the generic kernel using the steps listed here-
http://docs.slackware.com/slackware:beginners_guide However, when I went to switch to the generic kernel it locked itself up and refused to load further. I'm unsure as to whatr the problem might be, any help is appreciated. |
did you create the initrd? What error does it lock up on?

For making an initrd, running '/usr/share/mkinitrd/mkinitrd_command_generator.sh' is your friend.

Rather than guessing,
1. What command did you use to make the initrd? 2. What do have in /etc/lilo.conf? Oh, and did you run lilo after making the initrd and editing /etc/lilo.conf? |

That did it. Would it be good to leave the huge kernel as a backup or just remove it, and if so, how?
|
Leave it.

I used to have dogs, and that was something I had to tell them to do regularly: LEAVE IT!!! |
Never worked for the hair though, did it!
|
No, but as we say in Oldham: "Grass doesn't grow on a busy street". ;)
I read somewhere that some women are turned on by bald men. Trouble is, finding them. |
I still have hair, but share your problem. Is the common denominator too much Slacking?
|
Maybe. I'll get a wig and switch to Windows, see if my luck changes. :)
|
Looking forward to the screenshot!
Choosing between women and Windows, or Slackware and lonely nights? Shheeit. It could drive a man to systemd. |
