swaret... upgrade kernel

i used swaret to upgrade from 10 to 10.1, but did not upgrade the kernel. now, a lot of things will not work (alsa, video) im assuming because the kernel did not get upgraded. is it ok to use swaret to upgrade the kernel? what is the kernel in 10.1? i have never upgraded a kernel, how difficult is it? thanks

Why would you use swaret to upgrade your kernels* packages ?
It is not so difficult to download them from and
then upgrade the packages with upgradepkg
