swaret --update kde -a
Hi, I used swaret to udate kde. It worked fine until I tried to start up the desktop. It gave an error saying:
ksmserver: /lib/libthread.so.0: version `GLIBC_2.3.2' not found (required by /usr/lib/qt/lib/libqt-mt.so.3) I assume I forgot to install/update an important package but I do not know which one. My system is Slack9.0. Thanks |
Try:
swaret --dep This may take a little while because it will check all of the dependencies of all of your packages and then provide a list of what needs to be done. If you go along with what it suggests it will download and install any missing dependencies. It worked for me :) |
Hi alan,
swaret --dep listed a lot of libraries and then `verified dependencies'. This then did/told me nothing. How do I interpret this? It told me that: `libraries resolved successfully!' |
Don't know is my hoest response.
A few things to look at / try. There is a flag in the swaret.conf to do with dependency checking. Take a look at the value it is set at and what the notes say. If you have no luck there you could always try: swaret --update swaret --reinstall kde Best of luck :) |
Slack 9.0 comes with glibc-2.3.1-i386-3. You'll need to upgrade it I suppose. Swaret can do this for you. You can probably use glibc-2.3.2-i486-1 from Slack 9.1 or glibc-2.3.2-i486-4 from Current.

How do I upgrade it?? Do I type:
swaret --upgrade glibc |
It WORKED!!! Thank you all for your help. I love when linux works. I now have KDE3.2 running and it looks damn fine!!
Ran swaret --upgrade glibc and it installed the new versions of the glibc library. Thanks again. |
