Swaret/Pkgtool confusion and a source compile query
This swaret tool is confusing me just a little...more to do with pkgtool however.
I downloaded swaret and set it up. Did "swaret --update" then I thought, hmmm...."swaret --do-all xmms" then hmmmm "swaret --do-all fluxbox". The packages downloaded and I used pkgtool to install them, now I am left wondering...did I install a kind of patch or did it just install a new package leaving the older (I had both xmms and fluxbox previously installed) versions hidden away on my harddrive. Could someone please tell me also if I am correct in using the above "swaret --do-all XXX" to update a program as that is what I intended to do.
And another thing...if I download source to a program, and the file is say "sourceexample-i386.tar.gz" can I put "march=athlon" on the end of anything to sort of optimise it for my processor or is it stuck in 386 mode?
