Swaret doesnt recognize my slack version
I did some cleaning up and deleting of package files the other day. Now when I try to run swaret, I get this error message:
You're NOT using Slackware Linux 8.1 or Higher or Current! Please, Consult F.A.Q. or our Forum at http://www.swaret.org! My swaret.conf hasn't changed. I am using 10/current. Anyone know what file it's looking for? Swaret.org is down right now and the FAQ is not helpful. Thanks! Barbara |

what ever you took out will be logged here..........post them and maybe we can figure out what swaret is looking for...... |
Well actually I just deleted the .tgz files from /var/log/packages. I didn't remove anything just the files, wanted to free up some space.

youre not supposed to do it like that :\
Install swaret again and do a 'removepkg swaret' |
Why do I want to remove swaret? It is installed.

What is your output with :
cat /etc/slackware-version |
Slackware 10.0.0
That's what it says. Barbara |
You're out of luck anyway, slackware packages system use content of /var/log/packages directory to manage install/upgrade/remove packages.
This directory does not contain packages themselves but file descriptions which describe package + list of files provided by the package. At least, have you got something in /var/swaret ? |
There are about 20 packages in var/swaret. I have my Slack 10 cds. Can I just copy packages to to somewhere so that it rebuilds the package list?
