swaret complete upgrade
hello,
im currently installing slack 9.1. after the install i want to upgrade my complete system to "slackware-currrent". can i do this with swaret and would swaret upgrade also gnome (to 2.6.x) ? thx for reply sry about my bad english :) |
SWareT should upgrade everything fine. You'll need to set VERSION to current in /etc/swaret.conf and run 'swaret --update'. Then run 'swaret --upgrade -a' a couple times (search LQ for why) and you'll be cool. You should really check out the Slackware ChangeLog and make sure to manually install the new packages (udev) and upgrade the replaced packages (oggutils split into about four different packages).

As root, open swaret.conf and where it says "version=9.1" change it to "version=current". Still as root, run swaret --update and then swaret --upgrade -a, if you have Gnome loaded it will upgrade it (and everything else on your system) to whatever it is using as the current version.
