sun java plugin for java applets

If i install slackware 13.1 DVD, the whole 4GB of installation, will that install the sun java plugin for viewing java applets, and all java related stuff, i only care about the sun java plugin, no openjdk.

i had a really hard time trying to install sun java on : Ubuntu , Fedora, opensuse. i tried all methods , using symlinks , lots of forums ,but it would just not start , it refused to start and play applets
openjdk on the other hand played some of the content , not all.

The Java plugin is the JRE. It doesn't come in the standard JDK packages - it has to be installed separately. You can get it at the (Oracle) Sun Java site.

By the way I had issues with getting Java Plugin to work as well (on CentOS) so had posted the below last week - it may help you if you were linking the wrong file as I was due to several places on the net telling you to link the old one:

Yes, a full install includes the Sun JRE. You can run Java applets out of the box.

The easiest way to look that up is by checking the PACKAGES.TXT file on the the mirrors. e.g.
ftp://ftp.oregonstate.edu/pub/slackw...1/PACKAGES.TXT
