Stuttering video playback in vlc and mplayer...

Hi.
After installing full Slackware 14, the recommended way, installing everything, I went ahead disabling nouveau drivers by installing package provided in the 'extras' or something. Restarted and installed latest binary drivers from Nvidia. This, I did after enabling multilib on Slack 14. All went fine. Now when I try to play any videos, in VLC or Mplayer, it stutters. I have Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 Ti. I recently upgraded my hardware including graphics card and ram. And installed slackware 14 again after that. In my previous installation, with my previous hardware, there was no such issues. I could play any video flawlessly.
The command "glxinfo" showed direct rendering as yes. Really no idea what's wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

I presume with MPlayer that you are trying to use -vo vdpau? The commandline + terminal output might give a few hints.

Initially, I didn't have libvdpau and vdpau-video installed. And the video was stuttering from the beginning, in both vlc and mplayer. After that I installed those, but the stuttering was still there. Should I uninstall those? But the stuttering was there even before installing them. the stuttering occurs in fast moving sequences, in the upper half of the region. I used to have those in Ubuntu way back when enabling the compositing, but I'm using xfce without any compositing now. It never occurred in slacware before ever.

Looks like vdpau is not working. Perhaps make sure you have libvdpau installed and recompile MPlayer.
