stupid queston "how to beep"


i need to make my slack to play a "beep" sound.... it's look like when i start my backup i want that slack play a beep 3 times... how do it????

Put this in your .bashrc

alias beep='echo -ne "\a";sleep 1'

source your .bashrc by typing:

. .bashrc

now whenever you type "beep" you get a beep.
Handy for knowing when a kernel compile finishes

man xset look for the b option
you can vary volume, pitch and duration

xset work only with X i want one that function with the cmdline!!!
