strange slackpkg+ error message
Hi slackers,
I've been trying out the slackpkg+ extension to slackpkg and it seems to work very well. I use it mainly to keep a bunch of alienBOB's packages up to date.
However it does print a strange error message during the
phase which I can't work out. I wonder if any of you know why it occurs and/or if it is anything to worry about.
After downloading the checksums, it prints
Code:
ls: cannot access /var/log/packages/aaa_base*x86_64*: No such file or directory
See below for the full output (the line in question is in red). Does anyone know why this would occur? I'm running 32-bit slackware 14.1 on the system in question.
Code:
bash-4.2# slackpkg update

Hi willysr,
Code:
bash-4.2$ ls /var/log/packages | grep slackpkg+
slackpkg+-1.3.0-noarch-2mt
Is this the latest version? I just ran slackpkg (with the extension enabled), slackpkgplus is included in REPOPLUS. I presume it is up to date. The problem still occurs.
Thanks,
Michael

Hello,
There's an error (which affects only slackware/32) at line #245 of latest slackpkg+ (i.e 1.3.0-noarch-2mt) :
Code:
X86_64=$(ls /var/log/packages/aaa_base*x86_64*|head -1 2>/dev/null)
This should be :
Code:
X86_64=$(ls 2>/dev/null /var/log/packages/aaa_base*x86_64*|head -1)
EDIT: Here is the patch to fix that :
Code:
--- slackpkgplus.sh.orig 2014-03-07 09:36:45.193967591 +0100
+++ slackpkgplus.sh 2014-03-07 09:37:04.757967327 +0100

Hi SeB,
I've made the change, the error no longer appears.
I don't quite understand what really was going on, if it was terribly serious or not, but I guess that's immaterial! And I guess it'll all be history once the next update is ready.
Thanks,
Michael
