sorry for the stupid question but it's a couple of days that each time I log into my KDE environment, a KTorrent information message pops up showing the following message:
I'm quite sure I did never request this torrent ( intentionally at least as actually I do not use KTorrent!). Maybe I have just requested it via web browser by mistake... anyway no torrent are listed in the KTorrent queue...
Any idea on how to get rid of this pop up message?
The pop up message reports as title "Information - KTorrent" with the KTorrent icon (see attached screenshot)... Even if you are right the file actually is not a torrent... What else can be?
Or, since you never use ktorrent, uninstall it. Since the message seems to appear when ktorrent can't find a specific file, the issue should disappear with the uninstall Should you need a torrent client, qbittorrent is a great alternative.
Thanks! This makes everything more clear! Probably KTorrent looks for this file to geo-locate the IPs... anyway, currently it is not available (at least at the link reported in the message) that's way I got the pop up message. I will give a chance to qbitorrent in case I will need it!

Seems as if maxmind no longer supplies free GeoIP.dat files but something similar called GeoLite2: https://blog.maxmind.com/2018/01/02/...acy-databases/
Guess that future upgrades of ktorrent and other programs using GeoIP will adapt one way or another.
