Strange DNS problem
 

I've noticed that after upgrading to the 2.6.4 kernel (an intel i815 based machine) the installed web browsers (epiphany, mozilla, firefox) all seem to have problems when "looking up" web sites, but then no problem actually downloading and displaying them over my 1mb ADSL connection.

Has anyone else experienced such a thing? I've added my primary/secondary DNS servers (as reported by my ADSL router) to resolve.conf, and included the router itself (192.168.0.1) at the top of the list.

It just seems strange that the mozilla engine experiences this problem. I haven't had chance to try opera/other browsers; my testing only extended to links.

My WinXP machine can query the DNS servers fine and renders pages as expected. It is worth noting that links/lynx do not suffer from this 'lag'.

Can anyone point me in the direction to maybe change the configuration that the moz rendering engine uses? Or any other suggestions?

Take the router off the list then bump the remaining 2 ips up. It should automatically add the 3rd ip after a restart of X (or just restart your computer).

I'm not sure about this, but you can check out the mozillazine forums and do a search for something like slow dns resolution...
