Patrick recently built new patched 4.14.7 kernels in the current testing/ directories.
Code:
Wed Dec 20 03:05:58 UTC 2017
...
testing/packages/linux-4.14.7/kernel-generic-4.14.7-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
testing/packages/linux-4.14.7/kernel-headers-4.14.7-x86-1.txz: Upgraded.
testing/packages/linux-4.14.7/kernel-huge-4.14.7-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
testing/packages/linux-4.14.7/kernel-modules-4.14.7-x86_64-1.txz: Upgraded.
testing/packages/linux-4.14.7/kernel-source-4.14.7-noarch-1.txz: Upgraded.
These sources have been patched with two patches that have been submitted
upstream but have yet to appear in the mainline or stable kernels. With the
patches applied this kernel seems stable now on both 32 and 64-bit x86.
Thanks to Michele Ballabio for reporting the issue to the upstream kernel
developers, and to Ming Lei for the fix. Once these patches appear in the
4.14.x kernel series (and barring any other major regressions), we'll be
moving these kernels back into the main tree.
My 32-bit current system running 4.14.7-smp now passes "Patrick's Test"
Code:
while true
do
/sbin/udevadm trigger --type=subsystems --action=change
/sbin/udevadm trigger --type=devices --action=change
/sbin/udevadm settle --timeout=120
done
It ran for over 10 minutes without crashing.
I was curious if the two patches would fix the mainline Linux too, 4.15-rc4.
They did! My 32-bit Linux 4.15-rc4-smp now runs Patrick's Test for over 10 minutes.

Linus Torvald kernel git tree has been updated with the modifications included in the Slackware kernel-4.14.7 patches, so it's just a matter of patience to see them in next stable kernel.
Not yet in the linux-stable tree so far.
Once done we'll close that thread!
The patches in stable MUST have been included in the Linus' main tree first, so it's common thing for all patch goes through Linus tree and then backported back to stable or older kernel releases

As for now, linux-stable has been updated as linux-4.15-rc5.
It can't be too long before we can close that thread.
Maybe the next kernel-4.14.x release?
Distribution: Slackware64-current with "True Multilib" and KDE4Town.

Well... I understand what you are sayinng and I don't mean to nitpick, but the latest "stable" kernel, as of 24 Dec. 2017, is 4.14.9. https://www.kernel.org/
The 4.15-rcx kernel is the current development kernel and called the "mainline" kernel.
Again, see the link above.

"git clone linux-stable" : is up to date (today) with the patches included, is just what I meant, nothing else.
I'm not referring to kernel.org for which I read the kernel-4.14.9 changelog.
