Damn that is too weird...
I patched to kernel 2.6.5.I did the first 2 recompilations(uh..forgot some things like ntfs support..) and then i reboot and everything fine.As soon as i tried to mount my external nfts disk i remembered that i removed the "scsi disk support".So i give "make menuconfig" along with that i put as a built module "UTF-8" support at Native Languages..then "make , make modules_install , make install" .. i reboot and it stops at "Uncompressing Linux.... blah" my computer freezes(Caps Lock not working
) and i get no other message.I reboot and get into "slack.old" ..i recompile the kernel but along with the last changes(scsi && utf-8) i remove something about binary kernel support(something about elf and a.out binary support. which i had remove partially at the first buggy recomplation) i reboot and it stops at "Uncompressing Linux.... blah" my computer freezes(Caps Lock not working
) and i get no other message.
I put my installation(9.1) cd and give boot:root=/dev/hda1 but i get "No kernel image found : root"
then i give "boot:bare.i root=/dev/hda1" ...i get into console and i give poweroff.I get some weird messages and oh lala i press enter and kernel 2.4.22 boots(but i had deleted modules and src of 2.4.22) .i log on and i try to recompile 2.6.5 including kernel binary support.I do make -- make modules_install -- make install - i reboot but shit..the same as before .. It stops at "Uncompressing ...blah blah"
What can i do except from reinstalling slack ???
PS:this installation is on a laptop and i never had any problems with hardaware compatibility or with acpi or with apm...I did no added or removed any hardware...
