status of -current is woefully behind....

Hey what's wrong w/Pat and the rest of the team?

Don't they realize that the new gnuchess was released early this morning?

Chop Chop boiz! Let's get it into -current okay?

Of course I hope you're not taking this ribbing seriously folks :)

Our distro is actually surprisingly current (as well as stable, compared to other distros). Not only that, but we're running with Linux 3.2.7 already in -current, and PHP 5.3.10 (I can hardly wait for PHP 5.4 to enter the mainline of -current either).

A little ribbing now and then let's folks know how appreciated they really are....

Thanks to the Slackware Team :)

Kindest regards,

.

Well, I have Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS and Slackware Workstations and Servers to mantain.
While I have to fight against meaningless and mad configurations (Who said "Debian Style"?!?) on most of them with Slackware I can really know where things are and what they do.
A pratical example: I found different bug in the Package Management Systems and I found myself in the trouble to resolve dependences that was not resolved by RPMs Package System or apt-messy-tools and... (surprise!) files were not where they meant to be! O.o
I mean... If a package developer decided to put config files in /etc why the hell you have to change this?
Just look at /etc/rc.d/rc.4 in Slackware.
Go to second attempt to find gdm!
And find the comment: " Someone thought that gdm looked prettier in /usr/sbin, so look there, too"
And WHO the hell put it there? :D

PHP 5.4 is really a great version, but for production, i think it's safer to use 5.3.10 for now as 5.4 contains a huge changes that might have a huge effects for the users (for hosting providers example).

I myself compile my own PHP and i'm now running on 5.4.0 without any problem, except that Suhosin patch is no longer working and the developers are working on it right now. It's all due to the removal of magic_quotes

Chess is a classic example of what was wrong with British society.

Checkers is better anyhow.
