startx password?

Hi Slack folks,

I installed Slackware 10 last night and wanted to use X, when I type it in it asks me for a password. During installation I opted out of using a password, I wanted to set it up later. Is there a default or do I have to reinstall?

Thanks,

Max

At what point are you prompted for the password? Just after you run 'startx' on the command line, or are you getting a prompt from within X?

cheers

Jamie

Are you logging in under your user account first?

No I don't think so. It just starts me with an account called darkstar

Do I have to set up an account on the command line and then login? If I have to do that what do I do?

Thanks,

Max

mbronsema are you seeing something like: "darkstar login: "? If yes, there you've to type root and then the password you gave during installation.
After that you can add another user using adduser.
