startx missing in -current xorg packages ??

OK, I'm running -current, and after uninstalling the x11- packages and installing the new xorg packages, startx no longer exists. I use runlevel 3, with gnome (gware-H). I managed to get it back by reinstalling x11-6.9.0-i486-12_slack11.0 on top of the xorg packages, and copying the /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts directory from another machine(though I may have been able to something with /usr/X11/R6/share/fonts which is the "new" location). Xorg.0.log still shows me running X Window System Version 6.9.0.

So how are we supposed to start X without startx?

Hi

Current is a bit tricky nowadays. Read the CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT

did you follow these hints to move to current?.
Did you create a new xorg.conf file ? If yes
try xwmconfig to choose a window manager.

props

perhaps you should install all of the packages in x/ directory just to be safe (you can always remove it later)

I'm using -Current and it's working fine here

-current uses the new "modular" X. The /usr/X11R6 path has been obsoleted. On my installation of -current, startx is under /usr/bin.
