startx and xorgsetup not found after install (13.1)

hello, i'm new to slackware so this will be a very stupid question. i can't use kde because the startx and xorgsetup commands are not found (from root account). i know i installed x and kde, documentation doesn't say anything about specifying a path, locale and whereis don't show a path. what should i do?

edit: it also isn't found in /usr/bin/X11R6 or /usr/bin or /usr/bin/X11

startx is part of package "xinit-1.2.1-i486-1"
xorgsetup is part of package "x11-skel-7.4-i486-1"

Both executables should be installed in /usr/bin.

So first check that the above-mentioned packages are installed. If so, try to reinstall them using command:
Code:
upgradepkg --reinstall xxx
xxx being your package.

hello, sorry i made a mistake because it turns out x hadn't been installed (i downloaded only 1 cd ) so i downloaded all the xorg packages from here ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/slackware/s...1/slackware/x/ and wrote installpkg *.txz and installed everything (didn't know what to install first). then i wrote xorgsetup and in the created xorg.conf chose the vesa driver in case radeonhd driver didn't work. then startx and x starts and freezes. what should i do now?? thanks for answering

My first suggestion would be to download the entire disc 2 and install. There is more on it than just x. I didn't look through it to see what might be needed but whenever I see people installing bits and pieces and then having problems it is usually because they failed to install something that is required..

I would also do away with the xorg.conf file by renaming it just to see if that gets you going. It's not needed for many setups, at least to get started.
