ssh timeout on text output

Hi All,

Bizarre issues with a couple of Slackware (12.1) servers after a power outage. They function normally when I connect from a Windows machine via putty but in a ssh connection (A to B or B to A) commands that produce a large amount of text output like dmesg or less will hang then disconnect with "Timeout, server not responding".

Are you saying these commands with lots of output work find with putty as the client?

None AFAIK, both ssh_config and putty are using their out-of-the-box defaults.

Those defaults are not likely to be the same. Take a look at /etc/ssh/sshd_config and at putty's setup. You might find some differences.

I also like adding these two lines to /etc/ssh/sshd_config to prevent NATs from dropping out:

ClientAliveInterval 37
ClientAliveCountMax 8
