split view in "make xconfig" is empty in kernel configuration (4.8.6, 4.8.7)

When I issue "make xconfig", the default "split view" in the configurator is empty. That is, I am not able to see configuration options and the help text for the options at the same time.
(single and full view both works, no help text here either though.)
Is this a bug in recent kernels, or is it something with Slackware?

Update: Kernel configuration for the 3.2.83 kernel works as expected in "split view" when using "make xconfig", regression in the 4.x kernels?

Update2: The two extra split view windows were suppressed, see the thread in the kernel sub-forum.
