split package error

I am trying to install some packages on a slackware 2.2.4 box, it only has a floppy drive. After i split some packges up and put them on a floppy, I copied them over to a directory and joined them using "cat" . when i ran pkgtool I got these errors

gzip::stdin : not in gzip format
tar: Child returned status1
tar: error exit delayed from previous errors

I'm guessing split doesn't work too good on .tgz files

Works for me:
Code:

Did you have any problems with copying files from the floppy disks?

chuck2 07-08-2003 01:15 PM

I didn't have any problems copying files from the floppy (no errors or anything) I will try that 'file' command and see what what it says about the joined file.
