Soundconverter startup error
Hi all I really enjoy using soundconverter and gst-plugins bad and ugly to make music for my portable devices I need mp3 and m4a support and the compile goes okay and all seems well but the program crashes with the following:
$ soundconverter SoundConverter 1.5.4 error: No module named ui SoundConverter needs gnome-python 2.10! I should mention that I have uninstalled the slackbuild and used this custom salix package but that shouldn't matter because it reproduces the same error I have everything installed correctly (PS I have reproduced this error before on fresh installs on my machine. I am using sbotools to install soundconverter. the compile process has worked 2-3 times out of 10) please help |
~$ soundconverter

It seems you mixed packages from sbo and gsb
Please try to install all deps from SBo to avoid confusion All packages in SBo are tested with deps available on SBo repository |

Yes, but i saw some came from gsb which we don't know what changes have been introduced by the developers
Try to use sbopkg + sqg to make your life easier :) Or try reinstalling all packages that ends with gsb with sboinstall to make sure everything will end with SBo |
right... that could be my problem. I will try that when I have the time and post back stay tuned.

Or you can go with pacpl. It's what I've used for at least a few years now and works great and it's in the right-click menu so it's easier than starting up an app.
It's not on slackbuilds.org though. You can get it at sourcforge. I'm still using 4.0.5, but it seems it's up to 5.0.1 now. It isn't too easy to install, but not real hard either. It *might* take a little fiddling here and there but it will eventually install if you keep at it. Once it's installed though, it sure is nice and easy to use! http://sourceforge.net/projects/pacpl/files/pacpl/ |
Perl Audio Converter (pacpl)
Okay... I'll give it a shot. It seems to support tons of formats which is what I'm looking for. How do you get the gui?
note: I am not giving up on Soundconverter tho cos it an official Slackbuild :) |
new problem with pacpl
~$ pacpl
Can't locate Parallel/ForkManager.pm in @INC (you may need to install the Parallel::ForkManager module) (@INC contains: /usr/local/lib64/perl5 /usr/local/share/perl5 /usr/lib64/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/share/perl5/vendor_perl /usr/lib64/perl5 /usr/share/perl5 .) at /usr/bin/pacpl line 26. (P.P.S. I haven't tested evolution yet, but I assume it's going to work just fine.) |
