SoundBlaster: No Audio
 

I have no audio with my SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 soundcard

Post the output of

lspci -v

and

lsmod

also, have you checked your mixer settings - for example

kmix with

Volume
PCM
CD

turned up?

Alright, I'm not very smart with linux, but I have been around the block with computers in general and posting "I have no audio with my SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 soundcard" and nothing else in a help forum isn't going to (usually) get you any help.
Skyline must be a really nice person. What did you try? What didn't you try? Have you looked at other thread for other people asking the same question? Did you do a google search? How about looking at documentation or man files?

At least try to solve the problem on your own before running to the help forums.

Read Moszer's reply, add a bit of boredum to your life, also add the fact that you're temporarely stuck with xp for 2 weeks, and the result you get is a bit of humor...

Also, when I start KDE, I receive this dialog box:

Also, in some coinceidence, I'm having a problem with my USB mouse too. The wheel doesn't want to work.

Do it as Root user: ie su to Root user in an xterm first - then type:

lspci -v

make sure you use the v option aswell - we need the full output -

Audio come after /dev/dsp, have to use application/alsa somewut to enjoy it. Soundcard catch the pure sound going through it.

I never tried yet, but current processor is fast enough to do natively sound cooking, e.g. split the purified raw sound to stereo speaker, delay part of the treble b4 feed it to the rear speaker, n they call that dolby. That emulate the nature effect also, bass will be some wut easier be absorbed rather than reflexted, n bcoz the rear wall is normally rather far behind so only treble would likely be reflected ..

Many other surround effect is actually falsification of the originally sound. N the public got fooled, n pay much for that :D.

As for concert u need other stuff for IDentify the singer ratehr than to trust ur ear, bcoz it happened, that mJggr once have given a show n the sound recorded during the show is almost 100% the same as of from his CD, therefore the manager objected for the originality of the show, it merely playback, n ppl had been fooled to pay alot ..
As for how the playback is recorded, I don't have idea bcoz the show should actually open air, therefore it is also a question how can it is so precisely recorded. But when u go deeper in IDentify singer u ll find characteristic feature that to gain despite of falsification. Dunno, maybe u can ask the creative sound lab or get it from the fastfood on the corner there.

N I dun need to spend time for the Soundcard, bcoz mine is integrated on da board. N I just turn the speaker down, when am on configuring linux (now either qmail/postfix, ne taker ?). That annoyed me with the delayed playback, etc, etc, kemak ..

here's a thought..........look at /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer
on your box, Who has ownership of these.
I had to change mine to, ----user root and group sys----
and instead of using ALSA, I use the emu10k1 driver and emu-tools, from Sourceforge.

Looks like you don't have your sound card module loaded. Login as root, then type the following for your SB Live! 5.1 card:

modprobe emu10k1

If your computer is a Dell Dimension, then have a look here.

Try editing your /etc/X11/XF86Config with your favorite text editor and add

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

to the bottom of your mouse section. That should get it scrolling for you. :)
