sound trouble on slack 10.1 with a intel8x0

hi guys,
i have trouble with my sound since i've installed slack 10.1 because it didn't work. now i've downloaded the newest alsa driver lib and utils (ver.1.0.9rc4) and followed the instructions on alsa site (howto).
i unmute the master and pcm channels and make the sound devices /dev/mixer, /dev/dsp, /dev/sequencer, /dev/midi read/writable for all.
And xfce(4.2.0) show me that sound is 100% but if i start xmms a big silence appear, xmms just say "Error id3.c, line 62: seeking beyond tag boundary".

please help, i'am on the end of my wisdom and nerves .

this doesn't sound like an issue with the sound... it sounds like an issue with your id3 tag library or something...

having said that, the sound should probably work anyways... are you sure you have the right output plugin selected in the xmms config??

on a side note, if i were you i'd give the latest alsa version a shot...

you shouldn't need to patch anything... you just need those libs installed...

see what you have with a:
Code:
ls /var/log/packages | grep id3
- is the sound working on any other apps??

- did you run alsaconf??

- have you tried with the latest alsa version??
