sound server artsd crashes evrytime kde stats
 

kde gives the artsd sound server crash window soon after retoring 100 %
how can i rectify this crash?
it gets seg11 signal it says.

There's a whole heap of questions this raises:
Does this mean you can't play sounds now?
Were you able to play sounds before this started happening?
What version of KDE and kernel are you running?
Are there any errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log or ~/.xsession-errors?
Have you changed setup - config, kernel, modules, etc?
What version of ALSA are you running?

I couldn't get ALSA 1.0.10 or 1.0.11rc1 to work with kernel 2.6.14.4 (got a similar error to yours) but 1.0.9 works fine compiled from source.

if i enable system sounds the artsd had to restart windows comeup and keeps coming and it never stops.i can hear music in xmms xine etc.now i have disabled the system sounds for that reson.
it doesnt give what is the error says debug dbg not installed and sorts of msgs.i have upgraded to present files from slackware 10.2
still start of kde the artsd fails.
alsamixer comesup fine ihave made all controls to max and saved the file .but sound driver itself fails to start and gives the message at every start.
sounds r heard after i play a music or something with multimedia.
while the music is only the arts had torestart window comes up occassionally.
its behaving funny.
