Unhappy Sound Reset

I had this problem, after setting up slackware I got no sound. Finally got it working by login as root and do the following.

lspci look for the modules which is emu10k1
modprobe emu10k1 load the modules

after that login back as user and everything work well. But mixer cant work! Someone in the forum taught me

chmod 666 /dev/mixer
chmod 666 /dev/dsp
chmod 666 /dev/sequencer

Well thanks to him everything work NOW!

Yes for now only, after i shut down my slack box and boot it up again I still got the same problem!! I had to do the above steps all over again !!!

Any ideas how to set it FOREVER???

Thanks Everyone
Without LQ I think I am still stuck in winblow.

edit the /etc/rc.d/rc.modules file

all you need to do is uncomment the line relating to Emu10k1

then save it
