hi there,

a test:
1. kill the arts daemon : use "ps -ef" find the pid number of something called artsd and kill it -> kill -9 $PID
2. change the output plugin of xmms to alsa and see what happens

I tried. You who were witnessing can tell. I decided to remove the alsa packages and unblacklist the OSS modules in /etc/hotplug/blacklist. It works pride fine although it is the depricated and not recommended way.

Well, I killed artsd and changed the output of XMMS to alsa and everything is running the same. KMix and alsamixer both recognize the sound card but I'm still hearing nothing. Anyone have a few more suggestions?
