Sound in Slackware 9.1??

I've been using Redhat 8.1 for a few weeks and decided to switch to Slackware...

When using Redhat, the installation program automatically configures my sound card (SB AudioPCI) and everything works just fine...

...but how do I get my soundcard working in Slackware 9.1?

I guess your's is configured already but you just have to config your alsa mixer.
as root run alsamixer, unmute whatever channels you want, quit the program and then run alsactl store to store the config file.

when i try to run "alsactl" it wont let me, it says i need some sort of option on it. like "alsactl -*" but i dont have man pages on my slackware so i dont know what to put to make it work.

what do i have to add to alsactl to make my sound work?

(i have tried everything, man pages dont work, i think something was wrong with the slack CD i used)

First run "alsamixer" and unmute (use the "m" key) and raise the volume on the master/whatever else you want channels. Then run "alsactl store" to save the settings. The " store" is what you would have needed to use "alsactl". I think it the man pages are absolutely neccesary when first starting Slackware or any linux distro, you should get a hold of them. I can't remember but you may also have to change the volume settings in KDE/Gnome/?? mixer settings.
