sound device problem

i'm using slackware 11... all of a sudden i got this message when i booted my system yesterday....
Sound server informational message:
Error while initializing the sound driver:
device /dev/dsp can't be opened (No such device)
The sound server will continue, using the null output device.

wat's the problem and wat is the solution???
