sound /dev's disappear on reboot.
Im running Slackware 10 w/ the included 2.6.7 kernel. I installed alsa-driver 1.0.5a and alsa-lin abd utiles 1.0.5.
After installing the all of the above from source, I ran the .snddevices scripts because none of the /dev files were created. After this I ran chmod a+rw /dev/dsp* /dev/mix* /dev/seq* This works great for root but not any users for some reason, from root I can run alsamixer and set everything up... when I try to run alsamixer as a user.. I get the following error.... alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: Permission denied next to all of these problem.. on a reboot all the sound /dev files are gone and sndscipts has to be run again... Is anyone else having these problem.. or does anyone know of a solution? I am thinking of trying an older alsa just to test.. but I would like to try and solve this problem first... Thanks Trey |
Try to enable hotplug, see if it works.
